Hotel guest catches supernatural activity on camera at Crewe hotel
A guest’s video of what looks to be supernatural activity has stirred up staff at the Best Western Crewe Arms Hotel in Cheshire.

The hotel, which is a historic landmark in the city, was built in the 1830’s was one of the first ‘railway hotels’ in the world. It’s known for its atmospheric feel, and the video, which was sent through to the staff by a guest staying at the hotel, has sent staff into shock.

The staff at the hotel in Cheshire are convinced that the video captures the poltergeist-style-energy of one of the areas well known ghosts – the Grey Lady, whom they claim they regularly hear pacing the corridors.

The guest who captured the video, who wishes to remain anonymous said, “I have no idea what on earth it was. I was definitely frightened though! The bar was completely empty, but I thought it might’ve been my colleague playing a prank – it turns out that he was upstairs putting his bags away. I don’t think it was an evil presence, I think they might have been trying to tell us that it was there. I still have no explanation for it, and after speaking with the staff and them telling me about the Grey Lady, it really freaks me out to watch the video back”.

The team at the hotel claim that the ‘Grey Lady’ is a throwback to Queen Victoria’s annual stopovers at the hotel on her way to Scotland. A tunnel, which still remains in place to this day, was purpose built to protect Queen Victoria from both the Cheshire weather, and the public eye.
The tunnel still remains, but the exit onto the rail platform is blocked up, and access to the entrance within the Crewe Arms Hotel is ‘off limits’ to guests as a health and safety measure.

The Crewe Arms Hotel was built with its doors opening out onto the railway platform and remains an impressive red brick building at the gateway to Crewe. It’s no surprise that, through its success and popularity throughout the years, that some people find it hard to leave it behind – even from beyond the grave!
